Nice post! A small tip for those that have difficulty getting the tab bar to show… After enabling the status bar, click the icon that looks like it has an upside down triangle in it. Nothing shows right away due to a small bug (Preview release right?). Mouse over the area just above the status bar and your cursor will change allowing you to drag the tabs into view.

I’m trying to add bookmarks from the bookmark bar but it doesn’t seem possible yet (at least without editing the bookmarks.plist)

Oh no its all in Japanese! but blazing fast. Cant wait for the English version though. The wooden shelf is nice but not sure it goes with aqua?

Thanks a bunch. I’m growing tired of Firefox’s unOSXness and the preview from Delusions of Grandeur made Shiira 2 look really amazing. It’s downloading right now and can’t wait to try it.

It will nto work on my G4 with Panther. Is it Intel only? The icon looks like a play on the Universal symbol. Any ideas?

Kit Born: It’s a universal binary. The icon is of a dolphin fish (Shiira), it doesn’t have anything to do with the universal binary icon, they’ve had it for a while. It’s also an alpha release, so that’s probably why it’s not working, maybe something to do with your hardware/software combination.

My guess is that it requires Tiger; this is a pretty common thing with new universal apps. I hope it changes in the future (though I, personally, don’t have anything running Panther atm).

I’m not at a OS X machine; when I am I’ll be sure to try it. This looks great.

Whoa, I never knew Shiira got this far. I used it about a year ago, and it was great, but it didn’t turn out to be that appealing. But Shiira 2 is very impressing, and the Japanese preferences don’t mind me because I’m Japanese. But I’d want an English version too to make some beta reviews, with the screenshots with English text. Great Post Phill!

The only thing I don’t like about Shiira 2 is the wood skin on the ‘Shelf’ section – kind of 70′s-ish.

Wow, it’s blazing fast — both tab switching and scrolling through graphics intensive pages are MUCH faster than Safari and old versions of Shiira. I can’t wait until the final release.

I would love to see the tabs preview window operate like Dashboard: a keystroke or assigned mouse button (or browser button) would have the tab fade in and out. Perhaps a new addition to safari?!? You heard it here first.

Wow, I am loving Shiira again. I can’t wait for the official release.

1.2 is great, my default browser. Anybody know why v.2 isn’t happening? It’d be a shame if they’ve stopped development.
