Voicenotes, Statosphere Make Appearances in the Stevenote

I thought I caught a glimpse of one of our widgets at Widget Machine in the keynote yesterday, but as it turns out, there were two of them! Both VoiceNotes and Statosphere showed up in the brief display of the Dashboard. It’s always cool seeing our products get some Apple loving! (And hopefully even more tonight, crossing my fingers about the Apple Design Awards.) Also a note, kudos to our friends at Monkey Business Labs get their Package Tracker widget shown there as well. Thanks to Engadget for the photo.
Reliving the Keynote
Christmas came early this year when my dad let me borrow his WWDC badge for the keynote (he wasn’t too interested in camping out), so I thought I’d extend the favor to you guys and let you at least see what it’s like. For the record, my first stevenote, and, well, it was an experience. So, to begin, John Casasanta (iClip), Austin Sarner (AppZapper), Blake Burris (CocoaRadio) and I enter Moscone center at around 8 am. Doesn’t look too bad, looks like we beat the crowd?!
We go up the escalators to the second floor… crowd’s pretty sparse. We leave Blake at the media desk. (He has some trouble with the guy there and ends up waiting 45 minutes for his press badge, but beats us out at the end with a seat six rows from the stage.) Continue reading…
Making Dreams Come True

Well, this one’s been stewing for a while, and it’s nearly ready for mass consumption. But not quite yet. There’s a bunch of cool people involved, and I’m hoping to see a lot of you guys involved as well once it starts rolling. Let’s see if you guys can guess what I’ve been up to!
More as it develops, back to packing for WWDC!
Good Riddance to Bryan Lund
All right. In a way, I really don’t want to post about this, as the subject of this post is ultimately an undeserving attention whore and I’m shoveling some more attention towards him. But in the end, the man deserves to be exposed for what he is, so I’m going to go ahead with this. If you’re not inclined to read rants, I’ll summarize it here. Bryan Lund is a hack.
Now, a little background on this man. From what I understand, Bryan switched to the Mac in 2000, and soon began a Mac software company called RadicalBreeze, featuring flagship disc burning application DiscBlaze. RadicalBreeze has made a name for itself by pumping out a ton of half-assed RealBasic apps. Like, a huge amount of them. Literally over a dozen one-trick pony’s that are, in general, really ugly ponies with disabilities that smell sort of funny. You can go check these apps out for yourself. (A note, the newest version of DiscBlaze is surprisingly decent, but that’s because Bryan paid a friend of mine to write it.) Continue reading…
New Iconfactory Now Live, Amora Unleashed
After a week of highly entertaining teasers, the new Iconfactory is finally open, and it’s never looked better. You’ll find a lot of goodies here besides the redone site (which, by the way, now includes desktops as well), including a full system icon replacement set by David Lanham to match his recently released theme, Amora, a really quirky new Dashboard widget called “Dine-o-Matic” to help choose your next dinner outing (I know it sounds silly but it’s a hilarious widget, give it a try), and a redone StockIcons.com.

And those who were concerned about Amora’s rather crazy looks will be happy to know it includes two more muted variants, including one that can best be described as a more modern, sharper Milk. Plus, there’s a really cool desktop by former collaborater and one of my favorite artists, Piotr Gajos. Intel users, just make sure you have the latest ShapeShifter beta installed to have these theme work!
Take a visit to the new Iconfactory and David’s site to grab these goodies. (And if the new IF isn’t loading for you, give it some time for your DNS to update.) Congrats to the hard-working pixel pushers for pulling this off!
Edit: Whoops, Dave’s site got dugg to death, so here’s a mirror download link for Amora: Download it!
