Rabbits + CSS + Crazy Belgium = Yum

CSSEdit 2Jan over at MacRabbit has just released version 2 of his CSS editor. I can’t emphasize enough what a beautiful app this is. CSSEdit 2 is truly a labor of love, and the final product simply reeks of Aqua goodness. (If I revised my top ten list of beautiful OS X apps, this one would be near the top for sure.)

CSSEdit 2 has been in the works for over a year, and the list of changes is pretty substantial. One of the cooler new features is the ability to “X-ray” webpages to visually identify different elements of your site:

And another great thing about CSSEdit is the fact that it makes CSS very easy to edit for noobs like me, with its extensive visual editing tools. Even I can drag and drop. Woohoo!

There’s plenty of other neat things in this release. I’ve been having some fun tweaking other sites with its “Extract from Site” and browser integration features. (Plus its very powerful instant preview support.) This is honestly a must have for any web designer. (And as a further plug, a beta of 2.0 was used extensively by our web coder, Scott Meinzer, on the My Dream App and MacHeist websites.)

A huge congratulations to Jan for this excellent release. Check out the changelog and download the app on MacRabbit, and Digg it to spread the word!

CSS Edit 2 looks great, I might just start learning some web design and CSS now :-)

Left me stunned. I can see a lot of work has gone into this, and it’s certainly an excellent app.

I really want to buy this especially after just playing with an earlier version! My main concern is that I wouldn’t want this app to be involved with MacHeist if I’ve just bought it. I think I’ll hold out for a day but I’m sure this app will win me over even before that and I’ll end up buying it anyway!

finally cssedit isnt a piece of crap anymore :P

mainly, the auto complete is heaven compared to the cumbersome one in dreamweaver… also its the only one besides textmate that has a great interface.

huds +1

Any chances we could see this on MacHeist? It’s pretty popular on the forums!

Pat, CSS Edit was never a piece of crap ;P .

I’ve only taken a cursory glance at the features and whatnot. I already can code HTML and CSS by hand, but some of the new features in CSS Edit are in fact enticing… just as the developer told me they were =).

Seriously Phil, you’re killing me. With MacHeist going on, I no longer have a clue which products are ones you’re hinting at, and which are just ones you like.

Beautiful-looking app, but where’s the documentation? What can I say, I’m new to CSS (forced to design with FrontPage at work, to give you a taste of the fiery hell that is my day job). :(

It pains my tiny little Belgian heart that I don’t know enough about css to actually do this app justice by reviewing it on NeatLittleMacApps. It has all the right stuff for being an NLMA. That’s even obvious from the screenshots alone. Darn. Now that I have a chance of putting a fellow countryman in the spotlight. Where’s that CSS for dummies handbook.
